Yes, you will get hands on training with pet CPR.

Do I need to bring my pet to the class?
We will have live animals in attendance for hands on training, for safety reasons we ask that you do not bring your own pet into the class.

Will I learn about Disaster Preparedness for my pet?
Yes, we have a portion of the class that is dedicated to disaster preparedness for your pet.

Will you come teach a class at my facility?

Can I schedule a private/group class?
Yes, we are happy to hold private classes for groups, such as breed clubs, 4-H, pet sitters, rescue groups, etc. The minimum requirement for a class is generally 8 people. For more information please contact us directly at 206-618-5432 or info@learnpetfirstaid.com.

How much does the class cost?
Rates for classes vary depending on location. Please visit the Calendar page for rates for specific classes.

Do I get a completion card?
Yes, individuals that complete the class will receive a card from ASHI as well as a certificate from Learn Pet First Aid at the end of class.

What will I learn?
Students will learn the basics of pet first aid, and what they should do for pre-veterinary care. Students will also learn some basic information on disaster preparedness for their pets.

Will I learn health issues about my specific breed?
The class is a general overview for dogs and cats. We would like to know what type and breed of animal(s) you have so we can try answer specific questions you may have.

How long is the card valid?
The completion card is valid for two years.

Can I get a group discount?
This depends on the size of the group and the location of the class. Please contact us for details at 206-618-5432 or info@learnpetfirstaid.com.

Can I bring my dog/cat to class?
We will have live animals in attendance for hands on training, for safety reasons we ask that you do not bring your own pet into the class.

Is the class for dogs and cats only?
Yes, primarily, although there are some skills that can be used for other animals. This will be covered in the class.

Is the class good for beginners?
This is an excellent class for all skill levels. The training is basic enough for beginners yet thorough enough for those with more experience.

Is there an age limit?
Yes, we suggest that anyone that attends the class be at least 16 years old. We can modify the class for those younger than 16 in a private/group class.

What should I bring to class?
Wear comfortable clothes since you will be on the floor for some practical skills training. You can bring food or drink if you would like since the class will last about 6 hours. Everything else will be provided for you.

Are there any physical requirements?
We will work around your physical capabilities. It will be up to you to inform us if any special accommodations need to be made. This can be done when you sign up for the class on line.

Do you teach pet disaster preparedness?
Yes, we have a portion of the class that is dedicated to disaster preparedness for your pet.

How long does the class last?
The class usually lasts between 5 and 6 hours. The length of the class may vary due to the number of questions, and time needed for hands on skills.

Do you sell first aid kits in class?
Not at this time. We will provide a comprehensive list of items that you can put into a first aid kit.

Is the class refundable?
The tuition is non-refundable unless the instructor canceled the class.

Will I learn about any homeopathic remedies?
Most of the information given in the class is for pre-veterinary care. There are times when we will discuss homeopathic solutions, but it is not the primary focus of the class.

Will I learn about nutrition for my pet?
No, we will not discuss this topic in class.

Can I bring my children to class?
No, due to the fact that this is a 6-hour class with animals in attendance we ask that you do not bring children.

Do you teach first aid & CPR for people?
Yes, we can teach various classes for people including first aid & CPR for your group. We don’t currently schedule any first aid/CPR classes for people but that may happen in the future.
